Jum’at (25/11/16) kemarin Bagian Bahasa OSDC (Organisasi Santri Darunnajah Cipining) khususnya Putri mengadakan siaran mingguan yang terdiri dari berbagai greetings, request lagu, advices, interview, tips and trick, headline news dll. Mengingat pekan ini adalah pekan berbahasa inggris bagi seluruh santriwati maka tak salah aneka kegiatannyapun bernuansa bahasa inggris.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut Bagian OSDC juga mengundang Usth. Putri Khoirunnisa selaku salah satu guru Bahasa Inggris di Pesantren untuk berdialog bersama membahas seputar persiapan ujian semester yang akan dihadapi oleh seluruh santriwati darunnajah cipining sebentar lagi. Yang lebih menarik, dialog kali ini full menggunakan bahasa inggris. Tujuannya agar para santri bisa belajar memahami dengan cara mendengar serta meningkatkan kualitas pengetahuan kosa kata dalam bahasa inggris.
Ada 6 pertanyaan yang di lontarkan dan ditayangkan kepada Usth. Putri, pertanyaan diberikan langsung oleh ketua bagian bahasa yakni Alif Syadzah Muadzah santriwati kelas XI MA. Berikut beberapa pertanyaan beserta jawaban dalam kegiatan siaran Jum’at pagi yang bertempatkan di Kantor BPS (Biro Pengasuhan Santri) pekan lalu:
Alif : Assalamu’alaikum Miss, How Are You today? Today we will start to discuss about Students Exam Preparation. So I will Ask you some question about it. Do you want to say something Miss?
Miss Putri : Walaikumsalam Wr Wb, I am very well thank you. Well, the first I would like say thanks a million for the all member of language section for inviting me in this time. In this good opportunity or occasion I will try to answer any questions from you. As we know that soon all students will be faced with an exam. So the topic to be discussed today is regarding the preparation for the exam.
Alif : Your Welcome Miss, Lets start now! Actually I have several questions, there are 6 questions from us. So, please give your opinion about it Miss.
Miss Putri : Yes, Please!
Alif : What kind of examination system that our boarding school used?
Miss Putri : Well, our schools have an exam system that is very interesting and good. As usual all students will be faced with the oral examination and written examination twice in a year. So, it would be a very different test than is usually because the students have to prepare well various exam preparations before it happened. One of the reasons why our schools choose this system because. With their oral and written exams teachers will be easier knowing the weaknesses and advantages that exist within each student. And finally with this good system the students will increase their speaking and writing ability unconsciously.
Alif : Oke! Next, How does written and oral examinations work?
Miss Putri : Alright! As we know that the oral and written exams will be held for 3 weeks duration in each semester exam. The technical of exam in our schools will divide into two sessions, in one week for oral exams and two weeks for the written test. The first time all students will be faced with oral exams, So that the students can improve communication skills and mental training to answer a variety of questions from the test team directly. Oral exam is also one media/way to see students intelligence because this exam is considered the most pristine/original compared to the written test. The difficulties also have different levels, because the students are not only required to think of an answer but also must be adept at conveying all the information and opinions must use two foreign languages namely Arabic and English.
Now talking about the written test, this test has a longer time than the oral exam because the students must test in accordance with the material taught in class. A written test about 90 minutes in every hour. Usually every class will be supervised by two examiners. Different from the oral examination or test that on this occasions the students need ideas and answers into a paper. No one other than those required to understand the lessons were also tested in the field of writing.
Alif : Then, the 3rd question is why does our boarding school choose that system?
Miss Putri : To increase the ability of the students to communicate and write. Besides also improve self-confidence of the students to be able to create generation mentally strong, brave and intelligent in terms of knowledge, religious and social. With oral and written test are certainly going to measure and be able to see and know the various knowledge of students.
Alif : So, the 4th question is what do students have to do before following oral and written examinations?
Miss Putri : Well, as a student certainly needed some test preparation. Such as material, mental, health to high confidence. It would require a lot of practice and process. As students they should have a complete book, because the book is like a tool of war that will be used for supporting their knowledge. Furthermore, the students should practice in speaking such as Arabic and English in order to know the weaknesses of some skill like in conversation, reading, translation, vocabulary, up more grammar knowledge.
Then, the students also need to make sure and materials that will be tested later. So, that the tests took place fluently and successfully.
There are several factors to be successful in the exams
1. Study hard
2. Read More!
3. A lot of practice
4. Take the time to remind the lesson (review)
5. Increasing of worship or prayer to God
6. Ask for prayers and support from parents.
7. Optimistic and positive thinking
8. Exercising to eliminate shyness and nervous
9. Try to give the best during exams
10. Stay healthy
11. Become honest Person during exams.
Alif : Awesome! Next question is By the way is there any changes to the examination from year to year?
Miss Putri : Of course, there are some changes in examination. This change is certainly not about a lesson but rather to technical test execution. It is intended that the test can be run up to the expectations. For example lately oral exam has been in effect a new system that is 8 people every day, because the time given to the participants is very diverse and need a lot of time. It is purpose that the exam was over before midday/dzuhur prayers together. Otherwise the other important things are the changes in the order of test execution.
Actually, since this year penalties/ punishment for students who cheat during exams will be given heavy penalties in accordance with the rules of the security section at this boarding school.
Alif : Oke, this is the last question from me. The impression during examination is always scary, especially for Arabic/English Oral Examination. How to change the mindset od students that the examination is no longer scary. Do you have some tips of it?
Miss Putri : Alright, Talking about the oral exam is one exam that is very frightening for the students. In the fact that the students had to answer questions individually in front of two oral examiners. In this good occasion the students must also demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in a foreign language, such as Arabic and English. But this is the exam, the students must be able to pass well and full of preparation.
Okay, now we will discuss how to conquer the oral examination so that this test does not become a scary thing.
- First, Say in your heart that I believe I can.
- Second, give a sweet smile and relax.
- Third, try to answer the questions as much as possible
- Fourth, think positively during the exam
- Fifth, suppose the examiners as your own friends, so you can talk as much and fluently.
- Sixth, praying before entering the test and after the test in order to value and results that have been achieved satisfactorily and got high scores.
- Seventh, assume that this test is one way to improve your language both in Arabic and English.
